St. Sebastian College and Church and Royal Factory

Description:
century (Jesuit College and Church) and that in the eighteenth century, was expanded with the implementation of the Textile Royal Factory Fabric of Portalegre. The Royal Factory building, located south of the Church, is in plan 50 x 18 m2, and has a fence of about 12 m. The Church has, in plan, approximately 32 x 18 m2 and reaches a height of nearly 21 m. The St. Sebastian College, at North, and with an "L" configuration has the greater NS oriented alignment with 10 x 45 m2, and perpendicular alignment with 11 x 32 m2. The buildings structure consists of masonry and stonework walls, columns, arches and vaults, some of them with timber floors and roofs.
Main pathologies:
Foundations settlements and dilapidated masonry walls, mainly in the College and the Church, with major cracks of the vaults and walls. Spurious works, as the cut of arches and masonry walls, inducing movements and cracking of overlying walls. Excessive deformation of timber floors and roofs, with rotting structures and coatings due to leaks.
Main interventions:
Consolidation of walls with reinforced shotcrete.
Implementation of floor structures and accesses with steel elements and reinforced concretes.
Consolidation of domes strengthening them with reinforced concrete and reinforcing lightweight concrete.
Construction of choirs with steel, timber and composite structures.
Construction of access points (concrete and steel).
Injection of cracks and reconstruction of walls and arches that have been improperly removed.
Interconnection of walls with steel, timber and concrete elements.
Performing laminated veneer timber roof.
